Chocolate Chip Cookies

Of all the pastries/sweets in the world, cookies are my most favorite! Nothing beats good 'ol chocolate chip cookies for me.

I have a few cookie recipes already on the blog but I realized that I haven't been able to share YET the most basic chocolate chip cookie recipe. Everyone has a different version of this, there are probably a hundred different ways to make it. It all boils down to how you like them. Personally, I like it crunchy on the edges, slightly chewy and cake-y inside with dark chocolate chunks tucked in and more chocolate chips on top. If this is how you like your chocolate chip cookies, then THIS is your new go-to recipe!

Chocolate Chip Cookies

  • 1 cup butter (1/2 cup melted, 1/2 cup softened)
  • 1¼ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • ¾ tsp. salt
  • 1 cup dark chocolate, coarsely chopped
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips (set aside 1/4 cup for garnish)

  1. Place ½ cup softened butter, brown sugar, and white sugar into a mixing bowl and cream. Add melted butter and continue to cream.
  2. Mix in eggs and vanilla.
  3. In another bowl, combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add flour mixture to butter mixture.
  4. Fold in chopped dark chocolate and semisweet chocolate chips.
  5. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  7. Line 2 large sheet pans with parchment paper, then divide dough into 12 large mounds spacing it about 1.5-2 inches away from each other. Stud each cookie dough with more semisweet chocolate chips on top.
  8. Bake for 12-14 minutes or until color begins to develop on the edges.
  9. Let cool for 5 minutes before removing from pan and onto a cooling rack.
